Customer Question: Are Calciworms Good For Hedgehogs?

Calciworms are a great source of calcium protein and fat, and are a meaty, easy-to-digest for many creatures including hedgehogs.

They should not be a main food source though, as they don't have the full range of nutrients that hedgehogs need.

See hedgehog food for a nutritionally balanced mix with the right ratio of calcium to phosphorus and added Vitamin D₃, which together support healthy bone density. This is important as an imbalance can contribute to Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), where the body draws calcium from the skeleton, weakening bones and impairing mobility.

    The hedgehogs like them, and if I sprinkle them on top of the dried hedgehog food, the smell seems to deter the neighbouring cats!!

    Hog season has started and this is one of my go to products. I don’t go elsewhere as the calci worms are excellent size and quality, and in a convenient sized plastic bucket. The hogs love these and at least I know I’m giving them the proper type of mealworm that will be good for their well-being.
