Pets and Wildlife Boost Our Happiness

Have you noticed how simply spending time with pets or watching wildlife can make you feel happier and more relaxed?  It's more than 'just a feeling'. Lots of research repeatedly shows the positive impact on our wellbeing that pets and wildlife can give us. Understandably, having pets reduces feelings of loneliness.  People without pets can still benefit though; spending time in nature - even 'man-made' areas like gardens and parks - can lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, reducing stress levels and giving higher levels of positive emotions that improve our moods. Couple that with feeding birds or squirrels, and you can feel that increased happiness too.

What pet or wildlife experiences make you happiest?  Wild birds flocking around your bird table and splashing in your bird bath?  Parakeets nuzzling you?  A happy dog wagging its tail when it sees you?  A cat purring on your lap?  Watching chameleons change colour?  Geckos - or rabbits - licking your hand?  Holding a little frog in your palm?  Catching your lizard basking in sunshine?  Seeing hedgehogs using your hedgehog house and safely snacking away from predators? Feeding an enthusiastic gathering of ducks, geese and swans?  Whatever it is, help your pets and wildlife stay happy and healthy too, with our Britten & James high-quality petwild bird and wildlife food and treats.  Keep enjoying your special bond with nature, and the happiness it brings.
